Frankly Sydney, I don’t give a damn!

Good evening! I’m sorry I haven’t published my historical piece on the Darlinghurst Courthouse yet. It’s in the works.

Instead of blogging, I spent most of my Sunday watching Gone with the Wind. I’m very close to packing my bags just like Rhett Butler did 💨

Darlinghurst, you will always be my little haven. I just wish that the rest of Sydney could be more like you.

Why do we all march to work disconnected and stressed? Why do people walk into each other and not even say sorry? Why do I get a strange look in return if I smile at someone when I’m passing them by?

I have so many questions for you Sydney.

The Oxford dictionary defines “kindness” as: “The quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.” Is it really that hard to be those things?

Don’t think about it tomorrow like Scarlett did. I dare you to stop looking at your phone when you’re crossing a road, smile at a stranger and say thank you to your bus driver for getting you home.

You never know what’s going on in someone’s life, and it’s the little things that can make all the difference.

Be kind to each other.

That’s all folks.

Darlo Diary

Thanks for dropping by!

With freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be happy? — Oscar Wilde

Insert “Darlinghurst” into the google engine and it will provide the following response:

“Inner-city Darlinghurst is a funky, high-energy area with cafes, sleek multicultural restaurants and intimate cocktail bars.”

Do you think this quote does Darlinghurst justice? The short answer is no. I believe our Darlo encapsulates Oscar Wilde’s thoughts and more. Where else could you find an old courthouse, National Art School, record store and Film Club all within one kilometre of each other?! This inner-city suburb is an eclectic community that many of us call home.

Darlo has been my home for almost two years now, and before that I lived in its sister suburb: Paddington. I believe dear Darlinghurst should be the subject of an official diary. So, as the self-proclaimed “girl” of the suburb I have decided to share with you my weekly experiences and thoughts.

If there is anything you would like me to cover in my diary entries please let me know.
